"IN THE BEGINNING WAS EROS" - OAC CRETE INFO In the evening of Saturday 12 October 2019, the Opening of the Art Exhibition entitled: "In the beginning was Eros - from the genesis of a masterpiece to its current visual definitions", organized by the Orthodox Academy of Crete on the occasion of the proclamation of 2019 as the "Year of Erotokritos", participating in the festivities, in collaboration with the Pancretan Association of Artists "Neorion Art" and under the auspices of the Region of Crete & KEPPEDH-KAM, at the Centre for Mediterranean Architecture. Greetings were given by the Director General of the OAK, Dr Konstantinos Zorbas, the President of the Pancretan Association of Artists "Neorion Art" and Artist, Mrs Magdalene Vogiatzi, who thanked the OAK for the cooperation, as well as the curator of the exhibition, Museologist and Art Historian, Mrs Myrto Kontomitaki, who spoke about the importance of this work of Vincenzo Kornaros. The aim of the exhibition -which will run until 20 October 2019- is to present through the artists' works the work of Vincenzo Kornaros, its timelessness and, above all, the universal values that the author espouses through this epic work. Also, on the occasion of this Exhibition, parallel activities, lectures and cultural events will be held with free admission for the public, as well as the possibility of Educational visits upon request. As part of the parallel events, on Monday, October 14, 2019 at 19:00 pm, a speech by Mr. Chrysostomos Stamoulis, Professor of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki - Composer, will take place on the topic "Love as strong as death.
