As part of the city’s strategy to strengthen and expand tourism contacts with the Indian market, Athens, through the Municipality of Athens’ Convention and Visitors Bureau (This is Athens – – CVB), participated for the first time in the international exhibition “Outbound Travel Market”” ( (OTM)), held in Mumbai, India, from 8 to 10 February .

OTM is one of Asia’s leading trade fairs that acts as a gateway to India’s tourism markets. Every year it attracts more than 35,000 visitors from 60 different countries, including 1,600 exhibitors and more than 1,000 tourism professionals.

In this first participation, the city of Athens had a double dynamic presence both at the EOT stand and at the stand of the European Association of Travel Agents (ETOA).

During the three-day exhibition, the representatives of the Athens Municipality Conventions and Visitors Bureau came into contact with more than 200 representatives of the Indian tourism industry, presenting all the modern infrastructure and advantages of the city which make it not only a competitive tourist destination, but also an ideal choice for film productions and weddings.

During the event, ETOA was awarded by OTM for its presence at the exhibition and received the award together with the representatives of Athens.

For more targeted networking with representatives of the Indian Market, the Athens Municipality Visitors and Conventions Bureau collaborated with the Indian Tourism Consultancy Group Nijhawan Group.

The trip took place in the framework of the integrated promotion strategy of Athens, aiming at attracting the Indian tourism market and creating a direct air link..
