The fully equipped facilities cover the teaching and research requirements as well as the entertainment needs of the students. The foundation's axis of operation is described by the vision it has projected since its establishment: the establishment of the University of West Attica in our country, but also internationally, as a first choice, strong, modern, progressive university, with a public character, a recognizable and competitive role in the global arena". The new modern university maintains 6 modern faculties and a total of 27 departments covering a wide range of scientific fields, such as social, administrative, and Economic Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Health and welfare Sciences, Food Sciences and artistic studies. It is now the third largest university in the country, with 57,800 students studying at all levels of education offered by the University: from two-year courses to doctoral theses. The University of West Attica has achieved continuous, dynamic development and production of important scientific work due to the specialized, experienced staff, the high academic level of its faculty members, and the modern infrastructure, laboratories, libraries, classrooms, conference rooms. By putting into practice both the shift towards sustainable development and the implementation of innovative solutions, the University of West Attica has succeeded in becoming the first" university" in the country. With the installation of a high efficiency cogeneration plant and the cooperation with HEDNO, it achieved a reduction of its carbon footprint and, at the same time, made savings available for other needs of the university. Cogeneration of energy through the privately owned CHP station covers approximately 70% of the energy needs of the existing facilities on the foundation's three campuses.
