Municipality of Agia | “Chrysallida” Cultural Center One of the five traditional settlements in the prefecture is Metaxochori. The settlement took its name from the cultivation of silk that developed in the area during the 19th century. The origin of the "Chryssalida" Cultural Center is also related to sericulture. The building, constructed in 1925, is linked to the area's emergence as a center of sericulture in the 19th century. From a warehouse for collecting cocoons for the "Chryssalida" silk factory owned by Stylianos Papadopoulos, it was converted into a cultural center for the municipality, serving as an example of how to highlight and utilize the recent past. The building, retaining the elements and characteristics of early 20th century industrial architecture, is a well-designed, spacious venue suitable for any event, with a capacity of over one hundred people. The municipality, which manages the space, has also made use of the outdoor area, where a small theater operates. The cultural space occupies a central place in the cultural life of Agia, hosting musical events, performances, book presentations, lectures, conferences, etc. One of the municipality's most beloved events is related to chestnut cultivation. The Chestnut Festival is held every year in November in the community of Karytsa, featuring a host of cultural and folkloric events.
