EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

Kids lab: Wrong, this is not a mistake

Mistake labs’ educational program ” Wrong, this is not a mistake” is designed for children and teenagers 4-16 years old.

The “Mistake labs” invite children and teenagers to participate in an artistic activity utilizing the supposed mistake in the creative process.

Participants paint invisibly, following an unconventional process of making the design appear. They play with randomness using imaginative materials, trusting their hands’ decisions and their vision. Their ideas will unexpectedly come to life, utilizing the “mistakes.” Their own designs transform into personal artworks that they take with them.

“Words that hurt, words that smile…artfully”: Artistic workshop (for children 9+) on verbal bullying•

• How do my linguistic choices reveal my attitude towards the Other?
• Which aspects of children’s identities can be targeted at school?
• How can we use Art to replace “words that hurt” with “words that smile”?

Under our “linguistic microscope”, six (6) thematic areas of diversity (appearance, intelligence/school performance, gender, national/ethnic origin, socio-economic status, illness/disability) will be examined, with the aim of raising metalinguistic awareness and empowering children, parents, and educators on issues related to verbal abuse and discrimination, as well as overcoming them through artistic creation.

During the Platforms Project, the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) will present student-run works and specific creative projects in the exhibition space of Tabacco Factory.
