Lamassu of Nineveh (2018) is part of Michael Rakowitz’s series The Invisible Enemy Should not Exist (2006 – ongoing). The work was commissioned for The Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square, London. Its location in the surrounding area of the Acropolis Museum places the work in dialogue with both the excavation and the ancient city that lies beneath the museum, as well as with its contemporary building, the rock of the Acropolis with its monuments, and the urban landscape.
