First International Conference: "Italian Culture in the World" by the Hellenic Open University & the Benaki Museum ΑΤΗΕNS INFO The Hellenic Open University , in collaboration with the Benaki Museum, under the auspices of the Embassy of Italy, the Istituto Italiano Di Cultura and the Societa Dante Alighieri of Athens,, is organizing the 1st International Conference on «"The Italian Culture in the World"»:, on the theme «"Dante and Interculturality".». The Conference is held on the occasion of the honorary donation by the Municipality of Foligno and the Inner Wheel Club Di Foligno of an exact numbered copy of the first edition of Dante's "Divine Comedy". This copy is distributed annually to selected institutions worldwide and for 2023 the Hellenic Open University has been chosen as its trustee. These copies are donated in a formal ceremony to major cultural institutions around the world, with the aim of spreading the universal Dante message. This is a world-wide initiative of a special cultural character, which is widely recognised and is centred on an heirloom of literary and historical tradition of great symbolic value for contemporary Western civilisation. The initiative to hand over this year the certified copy to the Hellenic Open University in Greece was enthusiastically welcomed by the Italian Embassy as well as by all official Italian institutions and bodies in our country. The Conference will take place from 19 to 21 June 2023 at the premises of the Hellenic Open University. Branch in Athens, while the delivery of the copy from the Hellenic Open University to its final location, the Benaki Museum of Greek Culture , where it will be exhibited, will take place on 22 June 2023, at the Museum's Amphitheatre.. The conference proceedings accompanying this cultural event will be attended by Professors from Italian and Greek Universities and other countries, who will contribute with their scientific expertise and prestige to the success of the Conference and will strengthen the extroversion character of our Institution.
