An international conference on astrophysics is organized at the Orthodox Academy of Crete (OAC) from April 18 to 21, under the title "Escape of Lyman radiation from galactic labyrinths". (Η διαφυγή της ακτινοβολίας Lyman από λαβυρίνθους γαλαξιών).

Understanding this natural phenomenon, which is fundamental to the evolution of the universe and its galaxies, is one of the primary goals of research based on data from the most powerful astronomical telescopes, such as ESO's Very Large Telescope (Image 1) and NASA's James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), ESA, and CSA (Image2), which recently began operations in space."

The conference, the third in a row at the OAC, will be attended by about 70 scientists and will host distinguished guest researchers, including Professor Anne Verhamme (Université de Genève), Professor Rogier Windhorst (Arizona State University, JWST Interdisciplinary Scientist), Professor Andrea Ferrara (Scuola Normale Superiore), Professor Christopher J. Conselice (University of Manchester), Professor Matthew Hayes (Stockholm University), and Professor Jorryt Matthee (ETH Zürich). Many of the participants will attend the services of Holy Day and Holy Week in the Holy Monastery of Gonia, while during their stay they will have the opportunity to experience the sights of the area.
