In June 2022, the student competition CHEM-E-CAR was successfully completed in the framework of the 13th Panhellenic Conference of Chemical Engineering (13th PESCHM). The competition, which is held under the auspices of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), is aimed at undergraduate students of Chemical Engineering Schools and attracts entries from all over the world where teams have to design a small dummy car powered by chemical energy with innovative technology, other than the established ones such as internal combustion or commercially available batteries, but also have a braking mechanism that is activated by a chemical process.

The champion team was the team from the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Patras, consisting of female students: Angeliki Soulou, team leader, Sophia Savellona, Erifili Moraitis, Valentini Vassiliou, Irini Mikou. The team of the Department of Chemical Engineering worked under the guidance of faculty members Mr. Dimitris Kouzoudis, Georgios Pasparakis, and Alexandros Katsounis.
